OUR
LAND
Otematata Station is a high country station situated in the Waitaki Valley in the South Island of New Zealand.
The 40,918-hectare landscape is predominantly sprawling hill country suitable for our merino flock and Hereford cattle.
Recent irrigation development on some of our flats now allows us to provide lush green grass for our pregnant ewes, and then feed for our growing lambs in the summer and autumn.
The land can be broken down into –
40,918
hectares of High Country land (undeveloped)
530
hectares of dryland development
161
hectares of irrigated development
From these numbers you can see that our merino flock and cattle predominantly graze on pasture that relies on good feed management, as well as mother nature, to make the ground fertile and sustainable.
